La Charrette Village

Interested in what Lewis & Clark, Daniel Boone, Zebulon Pike, John Colter, President Jefferson and other notables thought about America's newly acquired westernmost village? Enjoy the west...before it became distorted by TV, movies and novels.

Fort Clatsop Fire

Have you heard about the October 3, 2005 fire that essentially destroyed the Fort Clatsop replica? The title link provides details about the fort and the fire. Wendy and I visited there in September 2004 when repairs were underway. Apparently, Lewis and Clark Celebrations planned there will not be greatly disrupted.

Memoir sparks students' online reflections
Katie Oliveri The Enquirer More than 720 miles separate Battle Creek and Long Island, N.Y. But a book and Internet blog have brought Lakeview and Cold Spring Harbor High School students together.
Just like so many Americans my friend loves the clubs and club music lyrics so he went ahead and built an awesome website about club music lyrics. When he's in high spirit he goes to the site and start reciting all his favorite club music lyrics. Says it's good for the heart. Guess what? I gave it a shot and it works great!

I visited Fort Clatsop when I was a teenager back in the 1960s. I hadn't heard about the fire until I read about it on your blog. The replica in the pictures seems much smaller than the fort I remember which was built as a tourist attraction and much bigger than anything Lewis and Clark would have needed.
